A team of officers assigned to the Kingston Western Police Division seized one firearm on Harris Street, Trench Town in the parish on Thursday, March 23.

Reports are that at about 12:05 pm, a police team was on mobile patrol in the area and observed a Toyota Wish motorcar obstructing traffic and was signaled to stop, with a passenger aboard.

On seeing the offense, the police team made attempted to stop the driver of the vehicle. However, the vehicle stopped and the passenger ran from the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle was accosted and a search of the vehicle was conducted. During the search, one Glock 40 pistol with a magazine containing sixteen 9mm rounds of ammunition was in the glove compartment.

No one was arrested in connection with the seizure.

Investigation continues.
