CIBC FirstCaribbean is seeking to assure panicked customers that reports of lost funds circulating are unfounded.

On their Instagram page, the bank stated, “CIBC FirstCaribbean is not aware of client accounts “being drained” as reported in the Saturday Sun; our systems have not been compromised, and our fraud teams are reporting no breaches.”

The company said that they are seeking to address the issue which appears to have been raised by one client to a news reporter.

The statement added, “Now that we have been made aware of the identity of the client in the article, we are reaching out to establish what happened and bring the matter to a close.”

It was purported that some CIBC FirstCaribbean customers saw diminished or depleted funds in the accounts instead of their expected balances.
